ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and BCBA (Board-Certified Behavior Analyst) are closely related but not the same. ABA refers to a set of therapeutic techniques and principles used to improve socially significant behaviors, such as communication, social interaction, and daily living skills in children with autism. ABA is the approach used to teach new skills and reduce challenging behaviors.

On the other hand, BCBA is a professional certification. A BCBA is an individual who has completed the necessary education, training, and supervised experience to become certified to practice ABA. They are the experts who design, implement, and oversee ABA therapy programs. The BCBA ensures that therapy is tailored to the child’s needs and is effective in promoting positive changes.

In summary, ABA is the therapy, while BCBA refers to the certified professional who provides it.

At Kids N Heart ABA, our BCBAs work with creating personalized ABA therapy plans across North Carolina that help children reach their full potential.
