People with autism do not all behave the same way. Autism is a spectrum, which means each individual has unique strengths and challenges. However, there are common patterns that families may notice. Many individuals with autism may have differences in social communication, such as avoiding eye contact, struggling with back-and-forth conversations, or finding it hard to understand body language.

Some may show repetitive behaviors like hand-flapping, rocking, or repeating words and phrases. Others may have strong interests in specific topics or activities and prefer routines that make them feel safe. Sensory sensitivities are also common, where loud noises, bright lights, or certain textures may feel overwhelming, while some individuals may seek extra sensory input.

It’s important to remember that these behaviors are not “bad.” They are simply different ways of interacting with the world. With support such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, people with autism can build communication, independence, and confidence.

At Kids N Heart ABA, we provide compassionate in-home and school-based ABA therapy, helping children thrive in their own unique way.
